Background of the Carolina Classic Fair
The fair is a longstanding tradition in Winston-Salem, starting as a wheat exhibition in Salem in 1882. It went through many iterations before becoming the fair that we recognize today, including moving to its current home at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds in 1951.
The Carolina Classic Fair experienced its record attendance in 2007 for its 125th anniversary – over 371,000 people!
