The 2026 Cook Medical Beat the Heat 5K race will be a special event for the city of Winston-Salem. The race has been selected as the 2026 National Championship 5K race for Road Runners Club of America. The race is a fundraiser for 8 important charities in the area, with race participants raising funds and/or donating to support the work of these nonprofit organizations. The race is also going all out to make this a sustainable road race event.

The race is hosted by Twin City Track Club and has been a popular mid-summer race since 1989. Cook Medical became the presenting sponsor of the race in 2017. The Cook Medical Beat the Heat 5K exists to promote fitness, health, and an improved quality of life for individuals and families throughout our community.
