The Twin City is growing! Several major developments are reaching completion this year, such as the Salem Bottleworks and the Robinhood Road Family YMCA expansion. Other projects are currently underway but will take several years to complete, like The Grounds and Innovation Quarter Phase II.

Salem Bottleworks
OPENING | In stages throughout 2025 and 2026
ADDRESS | 845 S Poplar St, Winston-Salem
Salem Bottling LLC is converting the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Plant into a vibrant multi-use space. Salem Bottleworks will feature Bobby Boy’s second location, three restaurants operated by Bobby Boy, studio apartments, an Airbnb, a market, and an event space.
- Update: Bobby Boy’s second location and Grandpa Joe’s Slaberia are now open! A yet-to-be-announced ramen restaurant will open in the coming weeks.
Tanglewood Park Golf Clubhouse
OPENING | Second half of 2025
ADDRESS | 4201 Manor House Cir, Clemmons
The original Tanglewood Park Golf Clubhouse was demolished in May 2024 to make way for an upgraded clubhouse. The reconstructed space will feature a meeting space for 150 people, a warming kitchen for the snack bar, and a wraparound porch with a view of the golf course.
- Update: The clubhouse’s golf pro shop is now open! The rest of the clubhouse space is not yet open to the public.
Robinhood Road Family YMCA Expansion
OPENING | End of 2025
ADDRESS | 3474 Robinhood Rd, Winston-Salem
The planned expansion of the Robinhood YMCA includes facade improvements, 140+ additional parking spaces, and a new Airnasium for programs such as pickleball, group exercise classes, and youth & teen after-school activities.’
Downtown Amphitheater
OPENING | Early 2026
ADDRESS | Between the Benton Convention Center and First Baptist Church
The privately funded, 5,000-seat amphitheater is moving forward with plans to begin construction soon. The venue will host a mix of national touring acts and community events, such as the Winston-Salem Symphony, the International Black Theatre Festival, and university performances.
The Grounds
OPENING | Early Summer 2027 (Phase I)
LOCATION | Deacon Blvd, Winston-Salem
Carter and Front Street Capital are collaborating with Wake Forest University and the City of Winston-Salem to transform 100 acres around Deacon Boulevard into an entertainment destination with retail, dining, residential, and office space located in one community hub.
- Update: The Grounds recently announced Creekside, an apartment community for upperclassmen and graduate students.
Long Branch Trail Phase II
OPENING | Late 2026 or 2027
The Long Branch Trail, which opened in April 2018, currently runs 1.7 miles from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Salem Creek Greenway. This extension—set to begin in 2026—will run 1.3 miles from Innovation Quarter to 25th Street along an inactive rail line.
Twin City Trail
OPENING | 2027 (Phase II)
Once completed, the Twin City Trail will connect the Winston-Salem Strollway to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Phase I of the project, which opened in August 2025, connects Liberty Street to the Winston-Salem Strollway.
Phase II, which is currently under design, will extend the path from W Fourth Street to Lockland Avenue. Construction is estimated to begin in 2027.
The Academy Hotel
OPENING | 2027
ADDRESS | 500 E Rams Dr, Winston-Salem
Salem Academy and College is partnering with Mayfair Hospitality Group to convert the former Salem Academy building into a boutique hotel and conference center. The venue will have 80+ hotel rooms, conference and meeting spaces, a 250-person auditorium, and an onsite restaurant and bar.
Peter Oliver Pavilion Gallery
OPENING | TBD
LOCATION | Adjacent to MUSE Winston-Salem
The Creative Corridors Coalition is launching Peter Oliver Pavilion Gallery, an outdoor public space dedicated to sharing Peter Oliver’s journey from slavery to freedom. The Pavilion Gallery will be built on the land he farmed after purchasing his freedom in 1800. Construction is set to begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
- Update: New archival discoveries have elevated the historic site to a national level, with involvement from the Smithsonian Institution and the North Carolina Museum of History!
Innovation Quarter Phase II
OPENING | TBD
LOCATION | Innovation Quarter
The next phase of Innovation Quarter will add 28 acres to the district, extending across the highway to the East End and south to Old Salem. Phase II will feature a linear park, 450 residential units, new restaurants & retail spaces, and 1 million square feet of clinical, lab, and office space.
Stevens Center
OPENING | TBD
ADDRESS | 405 4th St NW, Winston-Salem
Renovations on the iconic Stevens Center in downtown Winston-Salem began in November 2023 and include a redesigned lobby, repairs to the building’s exterior, and a comprehensive transformation of the audience chamber. Phase II of the project is estimated to begin in Fall 2026.
