Get excited! A new independent bookstore is opening in Winston-Salem on July 20th. Check out what to expect from this 1800-square-foot space located in Reynolda Village.
The Bookhouse, a new independent bookstore and gathering space, is set to open on July 20th in Reynolda Village, with a grand opening celebration on July 22nd. Founded and operated by sisters Tara Cool and Meghan Brown, this 1800-square-foot bookstore will offer a wide range of new books, as well as a delightful selection of coffee, tea, beer, and wine. The coffee will be sourced from Magic Beans, a popular roasting company in Winston-Salem that supplies Bobby Boy Bakeshop in the Buena Vista neighborhood. Additionally, the beer will be locally sourced from nearby breweries. For those in need of a quick bite, the store will also sell grab-and-go items such as delectable baked goods from local bakeries.
The main vision for this new Winston-Salem bookstore is to create a “community hub” where individuals can bring their laptops to work while enjoying a cup of coffee, or meet up with friends for a glass of wine and catch up on life. Owner Tara Cool expresses that the store aims to provide a space for both solitude and social interaction, allowing customers to relax and read alone, or engage in discussions with friends about their latest literary discoveries.
Opening a bookstore has been a lifelong aspiration for the sisters, who have harbored a deep love for reading since their childhood. They have always been captivated by the unique worlds that books have the power to create.
The Bookhouse will open on July 20th, with a grand opening celebration planned for Saturday, July 22nd. The event will feature a special appearance from author Laura Whitfield at 2 PM.
