Attendees will hear remarks from elected officials and have the opportunity to see the public areas inside the courthouse. The new courthouse is located at 175 North Chestnut St.

The new courthouse is replacing the Hall of Justice on Main Street that opened in 1974. This will be the fifth courthouse in the county’s history.

The new courthouse will be 250,000 square feet, 80,000 more than the Hall of Justice. Additional improvements include:

  • Easier-to-navigate layout for courtrooms
  • Rooms for defendants to consult with their attorneys
  • More parking, including a public lot across the street
  • Single location on the first floor for most of the Clerk of Court’s services
  • Secure tunnel for transferring inmates between the courthouse and the detention center

Behind the Scenes:

Samet Corporation and Balfour-Beatty were the construction managers and CJMW Architecture was the architect.

The courthouse will officially open on Monday, October 23.
