Thursday, August 8

  • Musical – Theatre Alliance presents Alice by Heart, a musical inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Runs through Saturday.
  • Meet the Muralists – Learn about mural making from a panel of artists at Mixxer. The panel includes Ernel Martinez, the artist behind the new mural on the 15th Street water tower! 6 PM
  • Sizzlin’ Summer Nights – Head to the SGA Community Gardens for a fun exercise session, tunes from The Nathan Ward Quartet, and various local vendors. 6-8 PM
  • Opening Night – Camel City Playhouse presents Hair, a musical following a group of hippies during the late ‘60s in New York City. Rated R. Runs through August 18.
  • Business Workshop – Join Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. for a workshop for minority and women business owners. Attendees will learn how to keep their personal and business finances separate. 11:30 AM

 

Friday, August 9

  • Anniversary – Tucker’s Tap Yard celebrates 2 years in business with an adoption fair, “pawdicures,” line dancing, and more. The celebration lasts through Sunday; check their Facebook page to find out when specific events are happening.
  • Free Workout – Work up a sweat with F45 Training Winston-Salem at the Coal Pit. Registration required. 5:30 PM
  • Outdoor Movie – Grab a bag of popcorn and watch Bend It Like Beckham at MUSE Winston-Salem. Pre-film activities start at 7 PM, movie starts at dusk.
  • Lyrics by the Lake – Head to NCMA Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA) for musical performances, spoken word poetry, comedy, live painting, and a vendor market. Join the waitlist! 6-9 PM

Saturday, August 10

  • 2nd Saturday – Bring the family to NCMA Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA) and unleash your creativity! Guests will create a monochromatic piece of art using paper, fabric, paint, and found objects. 11 AM – 2 PM
  • Dogfight the Musical – Theatre Alliance presents Dogfight, an unexpected love story set in the 1960s. Rated R. Runs through August 18.
  • Sidewalk Sale – Save 40-50% on name-brand, warm-weather clothing at Mast General Store. Sale runs through Sunday.
  • Spoil Your Dog – Celebrate National Spoil Your Dog Day at Howlin’ at the Moon Bakery! There will be adoptable dogs, ice cream (for both dogs and humans), mini pools, and vendors. 4-7 PM
  • Salem Creek Stomp – Explore Getaway Nature Preserve and investigate the health of Salem Creek by conducting water quality experiments and identifying local wildlife. 10 AM
  • Ribbon Cutting – Celebrate the new mural of The “5” Royales at the Big Winston Warehouse with a live DJ, food trucks, and drinks from Fiddlin’ Fish and Broad Branch Distillery. 1-4 PM

  • Farm Day – Find premium, locally-raised meats from Rivas Ranch at Wise Man Brewing. Bring the kids along to meet the farm animals! 2-4 PM
  • Maternity Tour – Visit the Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center for its open house event. 12-2 PM
